Hiring a personal injury attorney might be a completely new experience for you. You’ve been hurt, you know you need legal help, but you’re not sure what happens next. At Inzina Law, we believe in transparency, so we want to explain exactly what working with us looks like from start to finish.
We Handle the Hard Stuff So You Don’t Have To
Once you become our client, we take over the challenging and time-consuming aspects of your case. That’s why you hired us: so you don’t have to deal with the insurance companies, answer their endless questions, gather documentation, and navigate the complex legal process.
This means you won’t always see what’s happening behind the scenes. But rest assured, there’s a lot of work going on to move your case forward.
Our Communication Promise
We know you want to stay informed about what’s happening with your case. Our goal is to have a conversation with you at least every 30 days to keep you in the loop. Sometimes it will be more frequent than that, because your case may require more attention or you may have specific questions.
Every single case is different. You might have more questions or more needs than another client, and that’s completely fine. We’re here to answer those questions.
We stay in touch through whatever method works best for you: text, email, or phone. The cool thing about texting is that it’s often easier for people to send a quick message rather than finding time for a phone call. You can also reach us by phone or email whenever you need to.
Our Client Portal
In addition to direct communication, we provide access to a client portal where you can check on your case anytime. We organize all of our cases by stages and update the portal with information about where your case stands, what you can expect during each stage, how long it might last, what we’re working on, what we need from you, and what we’re waiting on from others.
If it’s 10 o’clock at night and you’re wondering what’s happening with your case, you can log in and get detailed information about the current stage without having to wait for a callback.
Understanding the Ebb and Flow of Your Case
One thing we want to prepare you for: personal injury cases have periods of intense activity followed by quieter periods. Understanding this rhythm helps you know what to expect.
The Initial Rush
Right after you hire us, there’s usually a flurry of activity. We’re communicating with insurance companies, setting up your medical treatment, gathering information, and laying the groundwork for your case. You’ll hear from us frequently during this period.
The Treatment Phase
After that initial rush, things often quiet down from your perspective. This is typically because you’re focused on your medical treatment, and we’re monitoring your progress, collecting medical records, and staying in touch with your healthcare providers.
During this phase, we can’t aggressively advance your case forward because we need to wait until you’ve reached what’s called “maximum medical improvement.” This is the point where your doctor determines that you’ve recovered as much as you’re going to recover, or that your condition has stabilized.
We understand this can be frustrating. You might be thinking, “What’s going on with my case? What are they doing?” The honest answer is that we can’t push forward until your treatment reaches a certain point. We need to know the full extent of your injuries before we can properly value your case and negotiate with the insurance company.
How Long Will Treatment Take?
This varies dramatically from case to case. Some people need treatment for three months and have a very clean, straightforward process. Others need treatment for over a year, a year and a half, even two years in cases involving more traumatic injuries.
Every case is different, and the timeline depends entirely on your specific injuries and recovery.
You’re Never Lost in the Process
We know that sometimes it can feel like you’ve handed this process off to people and don’t really know what’s happening with it. We know that your case is in good hands, but more importantly, we want you to know that.
Even during quieter phases, we want to make sure you don’t feel lost. We’ll reach out to check in, even if we don’t need anything from you. We might just want to see how you’re doing, ask about your treatment progress, and make sure you don’t have questions for us.
And you can always contact us to check in. You never have to wonder if it’s okay to reach out. It is.
What We Need From You
While we handle most of the heavy lifting, we do need you to:
- Follow through with your medical treatment
- Keep us updated on what your doctors are telling you
- Forward any mail you receive related to the case, including bills or notices
- Let us know when you’re feeling better or when your doctor says you’ve reached maximum improvement
Your communication with us helps us do our job better. The more we know about where you are in your recovery, the better we can advocate for you.
Our Family Fighting for Your Family
At Inzina Law, we’re a family-run firm, and we treat every client like family. We understand that your injury doesn’t just affect you; it affects everyone who depends on you. That’s why we’re committed to keeping you informed, fighting for what you deserve, and making this process as easy as possible.
